Sabah Colonised

Sabah is allocated less than 8% of the National budget, when Sabah's population is more than 13%, and area more than 25%, because it is deemed less economical to develop Sabah and Sarawak. Sarawak is only fit to be a source of cheap renewable resources such as Bakun Hydro electric dam that is not even sold to Sabah, that is full of electric power failures.

Independence of Malaysia vs National Day

http://www.nst.com.my/Current_News/NST/Friday/Columns/2119002/Article/index_html

Again John Teo from Sarawak made a mess of the truth.

National Day can be designated any day but Independence Date must be
historically correct.

Lying about History is lying to God.

Malaysia has never been colonised so there is no need for it to be
independent.

To say that Malaysia achieved Independence on the 31st of August,
1957, i.e. 50 years ago, is like saying that Malaysia exists that day.
The word Malaysia itself does not exist 50 years ago.

It is even worse for Sabahans and Sarawakians who celebrate their
Independence on the 31st of August, 1957, i.e. 50 years ago. They are
just bloody fools.

For Malayans, they have reasons to celebrate. For them, since day one
of the formation of Malaysia, Malaysia is just a renamed Malaya, and
Sabah and Sarawak JOINED Malaya, and never formed Malaysia.

However legal documents signed by Tunku Abdul Rahman didn't support
that view. It is clearly stated in simple English words that Sabah and
Sarawak established Malaysia, together with Malaya.

The constitution guarantees the right of assembly

Any legistation that disallows these rights, violate the constitution.

The police must issue the permit if the assembly or gathering is
peaceful, and the police cannot make a presumption that any assembly
is not peaceful because it will be against the right of assembly.

The police can only have the right not to issue a permit, if the
intention is clearly not peaceful. If the intention is peaceful, and
the police refuses to give any permit, the police has violated the
constitution.

I've got the feeling that the police acted on people who gather in
large numbers although they are peaceful. By acting violently against
peaceful demonstrators, it made an appearance of force and violence,
to the point of hurting children and women. How can children and women
be violent? They don't have the strength to be violent.

Videos must be taken of all these processions and taken to court in
order to challenge the actions of the police. Malaysian civil servants
had little respect for the law and this is very disturbing. And they
are allowed to break the laws at will because they were not challenged
in courts, and courts took too long to make decisions, as long as 10
years.

Sabah is heaven. Beautiful shark-free beaches and mountains,
next to civilizations with no natural or man-made disasters,
except Malaysia. But how long will it last?

Supporting ineffective leaders is committing 2 sins

If you know a leader represents an organisation that is not effective
in developing ourselves, and yet you still support them, it should be
clear that you are committing a sin that will haunt you forever.

But what is not clear is that, the reason usually put forward to
support such leaders is that the alternatives are even worse. Which I
tend to support and therefore had been silent all these while.

But it this were the case, you are committing another sin of
condemning someone before he has committed any crime. I know that all
politicians are bad. But how can we be sure that the opposition
politicians will be even worse, without even giving them a chance to
prove themselves. Even if you are right in the end, you still do not
have the right to condemn them without giving them any chance to
succeed.

It is unlikely that any opposition will ever be in a worse position
than BN is. Our laws are the most oppressive ever, and still is. It is
correct that Malaysia is still in a state of emergency. Election fraud
is rampant now. We are now in a position of no turning back.

In fact one reasons why people support BN is because of the certainly
of winning due to the election frauds. In Malaysia, if you don't
support the winning party, it will mean the end of your business and
businessmen are still the most important component of any party. All
need money to fund their campaigns.

This in itself is an evil thing to do, and yet perfectly acceptable to
Malaysians. Intimidation is part and parcel of living. Short term
gains is much better than long term gains. Soon we will end up like
North Korea, where we shall be thankful for even the provision of the
very basic necessities, to the point of worshipping the leaders for
giving us medical support that can only be provided by foreigners, as
shown by one documentary, of an eye surgeon.

Will the opposition leaders succumb to the same evils? Maybe. PAS may
impose even worse laws such as the forbidding of alcohol, the wearing
of microskirts by Air Asia flight attendants that allow them to show
their genitals especially when they use G-string underwear. All these
are just hearsay. We cannot condemn them for something that they
haven't done yet.

Even I am so suspicious that we will end up becoming the Taliban
Afghanistan if PAS won. The point is, we cannot condemn them for
something that they had not done. For Muslims it is a sin that we will
be penalised in the hereafter.

Sarawak's resources stolen because it is not economical for Sarawak to use?

Click the picture above in order to see a larger picture.

Borneo Post today: (11 Nov 2007)

Although it is recognised by Sarawak's Chief Minister that Sarawak is still backward, he accepts that resources from Sarawak be used to develop the already developed Malaya more than Sarawak that is in dire needs for development in all aspects, just because it is not economical to spend per population in Sarawak because of Sarawak's remoteness.

In order for Sarawakian to survive, it has to cut more of its trees and open up more plantations, destroying its environments, because its resources are used up to develop Malaya that is already in a much more advanced state of development.

In fact these expenditures of resources that had made Malaya cheaper to develop further than Sarawak. It is much cheaper to develop what is already developed than one that has never been developed. It was not cheap when the British developed Malaya and Sarawak initially. It is now much cheaper to develop Malaya per population because the basic infrastructures are already there. It is the expenditures of resources that had made it more economical to develop Malaya compard to Sarawak, and if more resources were used, it will make it cheaper to develop Sarawak. Sarawak was at a stage of development that Malaya was earlier.

When the British first built the Malayan railways, there was virtually nobody building homes along the railway tracks. It must have been extremely uneconomical in those days, and yet the British had persisted for the sake of long term benefits.

Once the railways were built up, more people will inhabit the towns along the tracks making it more economical to build more roads.

The same thing should happen to Sarawak and Sabah. You first spend money at a less economic rate, in order to develop roads linking major population centres that will allow the areas around the roads to be developed cheaply and economically, increasing productivity.

Actually this is just an excuse to steal the resources of Sarawak and Sabah. In Sabah, there is no attempt to build roads to Tambisan, which is just a few miles from Felda Sahabat Plantations build around the town of Sabahat, and yet, no attempt was ever made to build such road.

It is certainly very economical for everybody because it will allow the fish and small holders in Tambisan to sell their goods to the major population centres. Whereas virtually nobody with little economic prospect areas in Malaya, in the mountainous areass, were developed with billions of ringgit, so the criteria for economic viability per population is never followed.

The reasons why the Paitan and Sapulut roads were build had nothing to do with helping Sabah, but only to help the Malayan planters in the areas to prosper and no expenditure was ever considered for the economic well being of the surrounding very poor people in these areas by extending these roads to their villages, unlike in Malaya where even the tiniest villages with only a few houses are connected to sealed roads.

This is worse than colonisation. This is blatant theft and it can only be bad for Sabah and Sarawak in the long run. The destruction of our natural resources will be even faster. Malaysia is indeed a disaster for Sabah and Sarawak.

The excuse that Malaya will make a good market for Sarawak's renewable resources is just another theft. Out of 12 billion RM, only 4 billion is spent on developing the resources. 8 billion is spent on the transmission to the cruel imperialist Malaya, and the cost is to be take up by Sarawak, along with the destruction of hundreds of acres of prime land and forests, as well as the bio-diversity of Borneo. And worse, these renewable resources are not for sale to Sabah and Sarawak, let alone Indonesian Kalimatan which is nearer and much more economical to sell. Sarawak and Sabah has to settle for more environment destruction such as the huge coal plant at Silam, the site of the Eco-Challenge, and still, Sabah is suffering from lack of electricity and prices much higher than in Malay.

No, this is not colonisation, like the British Colonisation, this is blatant imperialistic theft of resources of Borneo, which is wrong and very destructive to the world. The rich environment of Borneo must be preserved and protected as long as necessary, not to be wasted in order to appease the appetite for the Malayans for cheap resources.

Sabah is better off with Indonesia

2004 figures of poverty:
Indonesia:
http://www.nscb.gov.ph/poverty/conference/papers/2_Indonesia.pdf

Malaysia:
http://www.undp.org.my/uploads/files/SabahHumanDevp.pdf

With Sabah's figure of 23% poverty level, it is the poorest in Borneo, and poorer than Indonesian average, only slightly better than with Papua and West Irian and Acheh.

And this is the figure for 2004 before each state is allowed 20% of its petroleum revenue.

By this time, Banjarmasin is far advanced compared to Kucing and Kota Kinabalu with flyovers everywhere, whereas I'm stuck with traffic jams from town to Petagas which shares the same road with our International Airport.

Of particular interest is the rate at which the poverty improves. From 1990 to 2004, SAbah's figure was from 30 to 23 percent. Which is indeed extremely slow, compared to the rapid drop for Indonesia recently. So by now the gap should be even larger.

If you think that recently, there should be major changes in poverty, just study the 9th Malaysian Plan budget, which again discriminates against Sabah, although it is supposed to be better than previously. With a population of 13%, given only 8% budget, it is certainly unfair and will not help reduce any poverty that much compared to the rest of the world.

Sarawak is also similarly discriminated but it still maintains a lot of revenue, compared to Sabah that had surrendered all sources of revenue to the Federal Government: Electricity, Vehicle Licensing, and Customs.

Revenue sharing with Federal Government is maximum of 10% with no minimum, i.e. it does not give anything, promised 5%, but delivering 150 million ringgit for the past 30 years. How much is that? Less than 1%.

I feel alright, but burdened with debts although I don't jolly around, i.e. go to night clubs, drink alcohol, play golf or any expensive sports.

But most of my inlaws, are suffering worse with Salaries of one tenth of mine, for those working with the government, and one twentieth for those working in factories. The starting salary for factory workers is RM150, but with time, they can get overtime and increments so their net will be RM300 more or less, and this is true even for government sponsored factories such as Sinora, but even this is not satisfactory to the government. It retrenched them and replaced them with contract workers.

Poverty level should be about RM600 if you follow the rules, i.e. pay rent, electricity and water, transport and medical and food at normal rates. That is why my daughter who works part time, I discouraged because I had to subsidise a lot of things.

Sukarno was right. Malaysia was another colonisation, but the bad thing is that it is worse than the British.

Is Indonesia better? Initially it was bad, under Sukarno and Suharto with their centralised planning, but now it is much better. Salaries have increased by 300% in just 3 years. Standard of living is still lower than Malaysia but it is rapidly overtaking Sabah, the poorest state in Malaysia.

Sabahans had to earn their living overseas in Malaya and Singapore, and many suffer from slavery and other social ills. Soon, after the finish of the 9th Malaysia Plan, and Indonesia maintains its momentum, many Sabahan s will be illegal immigrants in Indonesia. Banjarmasin is developing rapidly especially with the rapid increase in the price of petroleum.

The Javanese may still be in control and taking up most of top posts, but it is similar to Sabah. At least poverty level is much lower in Kalimantan compared to Sabah. It shows that the heavy expenditure manages to trickle down to the poor.

I don't mind Javanese bosses or even their corruption, as long as their money is spent in Sabah. It is only slightly worse then these Malayan officers, and hopefully, Indonesia will reduce corruption with the rise in Salaries.

This is all wishful thinking, but I must be prepared to a life of basic necessities, and charity, in supporting the many poor in Sabah. Just last week, I had been approached by many people on the streets asking for food, and they are not immigrants and they are muslims, and they don't beg on the streets. I must also be prepared to give loans to relatives who will never repay the loans.

Budget Allocation Discrimination against Sabah

http://www.undp.org.my/uploads/files/SabahHumanDevp.pdf
http://www.theedgedaily.com/cms/content.jsp?id=com.tms.cms.article.Article_4a18e46e-cb73c03a-18e80a60-f2d6a7b1

"

To reduce regional imbalances, emphasis would be given to develop states below the national average - the eastern region of Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak.

To speed up development in the northern region, RM23.8 billion or 11.9% of 9MP would be allocated. The projects include the Trans-Eastern Kedah Hinterland Highway in Kedah.

It said the central region would get RM56.2 billion or 28.1% of 9MP. The projects included building several federal roads and the Banting-Taiping Coastal Highway.

States in the eastern part of Peninsular Malaysia would receive a total of RM22.3 billion or 11.2% of 9MP (8MP: RM14.3 billion) for the Simpang Pulai-Gua Musang-Kuala Terengganu Road.

Sarawak would receive RM13.4 billion (6.7% of 9MP) for projects including upgrading the Oya-Mukha-Balingan road and the coastal Sibu-Bawang-Assan-Seredeng Road.

Sabah would be allocated RM15.7 billion (7.8% of 9MP) to complete the Sepulut-Kalabakan Roas and the Sipitang-Tenom Road."

Please note the population of Sabah is more than 10%. Only Sabah, Sarawak and Trengganu contributes to Petroleum revenue, but Sabah is the largest producer of Oil Palm. Its area is more than 20% of Malaysia(not just Malaya).

Sabah is also the poorest in Malaysia and among the poorest in the world.
